About the BMA456 Bosch Accelerometer

 

I. Overview of the BMA456 Chip

The BMA456 is a 16-bit digital three-axis MEMS accelerometer launched by Bosch Sensortec. It utilises an ultra-compact LGA-12 package, measuring just 2 mm × 2 mm with a height of 0.65 mm. The chip features an intelligent on-chip motion-triggered interrupt function and is optimised for wearable devices, whilst also being widely used in consumer electronics sectors such as drones, robotics, AR/VR, smartphones and the Internet of Things (IoT).

 

The BMA456 offers 16-bit resolution, with noise as low as 120 μg/√Hz. Its total offset over the entire lifetime is just 20 mg, and its temperature coefficient of offset (TCO) is ±0.3 mg/K, ensuring accurate measurements even in varying temperature environments. The chip supports programmable acceleration ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g and ±16g, with an output data rate of up to 1.6 kHz.
